Taking care of your hair is more than just using shampoo and conditioner. Since our hair is made up of protein, having a healthy diet is an important aspect of maintaining a smooth and shiny hair.
Listed below are a few hair care tips to help strengthen and nourish your strands. Use these tips and you’ll be rewarded with unbelievably beautiful hair.
Allow your hair to dry naturally
After getting out of the shower, it is best to wrap your hair in a cotton shirt. Towels are rough and could be damaging to your hair; thus, causing split ends and frizziness.
Avoid using a blow dryer. Healthy hair does not respond well to heat. So, when using a blow dryer, we suggest using the lowest temperature setting. Also, try to limit the use to once a week.
Don’t brush your hair too much
Brushing your hair may be beneficial as it helps stimulate the hair follicles and promotes growth. However, brushing too often may cause damage to your hair strands, which may lead to split ends and frizz.
Get a haircut
The best way to get rid of split ends is by having your hair trimmed on a regular basis. Split ends and uneven layers could make your hair look dull and unhealthy. Keep your hair healthy by trimming it every 6 to 8 weeks.
A healthy and well-balanced diet will ensure a great looking hair. The food you eat may not have an immediate effect on your hair but it helps in improving newly growing hair.
Use a good quality shampoo
Washing your hair too often could void your hair off its natural oil, leaving your hair dry and damaged. Shampoo your hair every other day at most.
Also, try to use a shampoo that does not contain parabens and sulfates. These chemicals are not beneficial for your hair or to the environment.
Don’t use hot water
Using lukewarm water is best when showering. Hot water could leave your hair dry and your scalp feeling tight.
Never skip conditioner
It is best to condition your hair every time you shampoo. You hair needs to be moisturized to keep it healthy and strong.
Applying an extra layer of conditioner is not recommended as your hair could only absorb as much conditioner as it needs.
