Bad Habits That Make Your Hair Thinner

201201-omag-thin-hair-600x411Most women work really hard in order to achieve a slim figure. Despite your efforts to get thinner, chances are you don’t want to hear the word “thin” in reference to your hair.

If you’ve noticed thinning or more strand falling than usual, it’s never too late to save your strands. Thicker hair is just about making a few tweaks to your hair care routine. Avoid these bad habits as one of them could be the reason why your hair looks thin.

Poor diet

A well-balanced diet is the key to everything, including healthy, full hair. If you’ve been shedding more strands than usual, you can reverse hair loss by eating a well-balanced diet consisting of foods that are high in protein, iron, Omega-3 fatty acids and zinc.

Brushing hair when wet

Your hair is most fragile and susceptible to breakage when it’s wet. Avoid running a brush through your hair as you hop out of the shower. If you can’t, we suggest that you use a comb and untangle your hair gently.

Tight pony tails

Putting your hair up in a tight bun or pony tail can put excessive stress on the hair follicles. One tight hairstyle is not going to harm your hair but if you do it constantly, you may develop a condition called traction alopecia over time.

Wear your hair down as often as you can. If you really want to tie your hair, be sure to alternate between wearing a low and high pony tail.

Taking steamy showers

In addition to drying out your skin, hot shower can dehydrate the scalp and strands and damage your hair follicles. It also strips your hair off its natural oils, making it dry and brittle.

Avoid taking steamy showers, no matter how relaxing they can be. Or better yet, opt for a warm shower and rinse your hair with the coolest temperature possible.
